"The Crummy"
by Mike Ford

Planting in the mid-eighties for John Bett's awesome Forest Cover company on Vancouver Island, I heard the most amazing stories.  Including one that described our very own CRUMMY (converted pickup-truck planter transport vehicle) as being possessed.  As if the winding mountain roads and steep cliffs weren't enough, the thought that this Crummy's steering wheel wouldn't necessarily respond to human control gave pause for thought.  I'd picked up a tiny guitar at a BC Flea Market and used it to imitate the truck's jalopy rhythm.  Out popped the first song I ever wrote.  Glad to finally have it recorded 22 years later!
